    1. º§»ç»ì ¿ÕÀÌ ±×ÀÇ ±ÍÁ· õ ¸íÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© Å« ÀÜÄ¡¸¦ º£Ç®°í ±× õ ¸í ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¼úÀ» ¸¶½Ã´Ï¶ó
        King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them.

    2. º§»ç»ìÀÌ ¼úÀ» ¸¶½Ç ¶§¿¡ ¸íÇÏ¿© ±×ÀÇ ºÎÄ£ ´ÀºÎ°«³×»ìÀÌ ¿¹·ç»ì·½ ¼ºÀü¿¡¼­ Å»ÃëÇÏ¿© ¿Â ±Ý, Àº ±×¸©À»

        While Belshazzar was drinking his wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that
        Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king
        and his nobles, his wives and his concubines might drink from them.

    3. ÀÌ¿¡ ¿¹·ç»ì·½ Çϳª´ÔÀÇ Àü ¼º¼Ò Áß¿¡¼­ Å»ÃëÇÏ¿© ¿Â ±Ý ±×¸©À» °¡Á®¿À¸Å ¿ÕÀÌ ±× ±ÍÁ·µé°ú ¿ÕÈĵé°ú
        Èıõé°ú ´õºÒ¾î ±×°ÍÀ¸·Î ¸¶½Ã´õ¶ó
        So they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem,
        and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them.

    4. ±×µéÀÌ ¼úÀ» ¸¶½Ã°í´Â ±× ±Ý, Àº, ±¸¸®, ¼è, ³ª¹«, µ¹·Î ¸¸µç ½ÅµéÀ» Âù¾çÇϴ϶ó
        As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone.

    5. ±× ¶§¿¡ »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¼Õ°¡¶ôµéÀÌ ³ªÅ¸³ª¼­ ¿Õ±Ã 촏´ë ¸ÂÀºÆí ¼®È¸º®¿¡ ±ÛÀÚ¸¦ ¾²´Âµ¥ ¿ÕÀÌ
        ±× ±ÛÀÚ ¾²´Â ¼Õ°¡¶ôÀ» º»Áö¶ó
        Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the
         lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote.

    6. ÀÌ¿¡ ¿ÕÀÇ Áñ±â´ø ¾ó±¼ ºûÀÌ º¯ÇÏ°í ±× »ý°¢ÀÌ ¹ø¹ÎÇÏ¿© ³ÐÀû´Ù¸® ¸¶µð°¡ ³ì´Â µíÇÏ°í ±×ÀÇ ¹«¸­ÀÌ
        ¼­·Î ºÎµúÄ£Áö¶ó
        His face turned pale and he was so firightened that his knees knocked together
        and his legs gave way.

    7. ¿ÕÀÌ Å©°Ô ¼Ò¸® Áú·¯ ¼ú°´°ú °¥´ë¾Æ ¼ú»ç¿Í Á¡ÀïÀ̸¦ ºÒ·¯¿À°Ô ÇÏ°í ¹Ùº§·ÎÀÇ ÁöÇýÀڵ鿡°Ô ¸»ÇϵÇ
        ´©±¸¸¦ ¸··ÐÇÏ°í ÀÌ ±ÛÀÚ¸¦ ÀÐ°í ±× Çؼ®À» ³»°Ô º¸À̸é ÀÚÁÖ»ö ¿ÊÀ» ÀÔÈ÷°í ±Ý»ç½½À»
        ±×ÀÇ ¸ñ¿¡ °É¾î ÁÖ¸®´Ï ±×¸¦ ³ª¶óÀÇ ¼Â° ÅëÄ¡ÀÚ·Î »ïÀ¸¸®¶ó Çϴ϶ó
        The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers and diviners to be brought and said to these wise
        men of Babylon, "Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and
        have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom."

    8. ±× ¶§¿¡ ¿ÕÀÇ ÁöÇýÀÚ°¡ ´Ù µé¾î¿ÔÀ¸³ª ´ÉÈ÷ ±× ±ÛÀÚ¸¦ ÀÐÁö ¸øÇÏ¸ç ±× Çؼ®À» ¿Õ²² ¾Ë·Á ÁÖÁö ¸øÇÏ´ÂÁö¶ó
        Then all the king's wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant.

    9. ±×·¯¹Ç·Î º§»ç»ì ¿ÕÀÌ Å©°Ô ¹ø¹ÎÇÏ¿© ±×ÀÇ ¾ó·èºûÀÌ º¯ÇÏ¿´°í ±ÍÁ·µéµµ ´Ù ³î¶ó´Ï¶ó
        So King Belshazzar became even more terrified and his face grew more pale. His nobles were baffled.

         ÇϿɼҼ­ ¿ÕÀÇ »ý°¢À» ¹ø¹ÎÇÏ°Ô ÇÏÁö ¸»¸ç ¾ó±¼ºûÀ» º¯ÇÒ °Íµµ ¾Æ´Ï´ÏÀÌ´Ù
         The queen, hearing the voices of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall. "O king,
         live forever!" she said. "Don't be alarmed! Don't look so pale!

         ¼ú»ç¿Í Á¡ÀïÀÌÀÇ ¾î¸§À» »ïÀ¸¼ÌÀ¸´Ï
         There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father
         he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods.
         King Nebuchadnezzar your father--your father the king, I say--appointed him
         chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners.

         ¾Ë·Á µå¸®¸®ÀÌ´Ù Çϴ϶ó
         This man Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge
         and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riffles and solve difficult problems.
         Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means."

    13. ÀÌ¿¡ ´Ù´Ï¿¤ÀÌ ºÎ¸§À» ¹Þ¾Æ ¿ÕÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡ ³ª¿À¸Å ¿ÕÀÌ ´Ù´Ï¿¤¿¡°Ô ¸»Ç쵂 ³×°¡ ³ªÀÇ ºÎ¿ÕÀÌ À¯´Ù¿¡¼­
         »ç·ÎÀâ¾Æ ¿Â À¯´Ù ÀÚ¼Õ ÁßÀÇ ±× ´Ù´Ï¿¤À̳Ä
         So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, "Are you Daniel, one of the
         exiles my father the king brought from Judah?

    14. ³»°¡ ³×°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿© µéÀºÁï ³× ¾È¿¡´Â ½ÅµéÀÇ ¿µÀÌ ÀÖÀ¸¹Ç·Î ³×°¡ ¸íö°ú ÃѸí°ú ºñ»óÇÑ ÁöÇý°¡ ÀÖ´Ù Çϵµ´Ù
         I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence
         and outstanding wisdom.

    15. Áö±Ý ¿©·¯ ÁöÇýÀÚ¿Í ¼ú°´À» ³» ¾Õ¿¡ ºÒ·¯´Ù°¡ ±×µé¿¡°Ô ÀÌ ±ÛÀ» ÀÐ°í ±× Çؼ®À» ³»°Ô ¾Ë°Ô Ç϶ó ÇÏ¿´À¸³ª

         The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means,
         but they could not explain it.

    16. ³»°¡ ³×°Ô ´ëÇÏ¿© µéÀºÁï ³Ê´Â Çؼ®À» ÀßÇÏ°í Àǹ®À» Ǭ´Ù Çϵµ´Ù ±×·±Áï ÀÌÁ¦ ³×°¡ ÀÌ ±ÛÀ» Àаí
         ±× Çؼ®À» ³»°Ô ¾Ë·ÁÁÖ¸é ³×°Ô ÀÚÁÖ»ö ¿ÊÀ» ÀÔÈ÷°í ±Ý »ç½½À» ³× ¸ñ¿¡ °É¾î ÁÖ¾î ³Ê¸¦ ³ª¶óÀÇ
         ¼Â° ÅëÄ¡ÀÚ·Î »ïÀ¸¸®¶ó ÇÏ´Ï
         Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can
         read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain
         placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom."

    17. ´Ù´Ï¿¤ÀÌ ¿Õ¿¡°Ô ´ë´äÇÏ¿© À̸£µÇ ¿ÕÀÇ ¿¹¹°Àº ¿ÕÀÌ Ä£È÷ °¡Áö½Ã¸ç ¿ÕÀÇ »ó±ÞÀº ´Ù¸¥ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ÁֿɼҼ­
         ±×·²Áö¶óµµ ³»°¡ ¿ÕÀ» À§ÇÏ¿© ÀÌ ±ÛÀ» ÀÐÀ¸¸ç ±× Çؼ®À» ¾Æ·Ú¸®ÀÌ´Ù
         Then Daniel answered the king, "You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to
         someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.

    18. ¿ÕÀÌ¿© Áö±ØÈ÷ ³ôÀ¸½Å Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ¿ÕÀÇ ºÎÄ£ ´ÀºÎ°«³×»ì¿¡°Ô ³ª¶ó¿Í Å« ±Ç¼¼¿Í ¿µ±¤°ú À§¾öÀ» Áּ̰í
          ¡°O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness
         and glory and splendor.

    19. ±×¿¡°Ô Å« ±Ç¼¼¸¦ ÁÖ¼ÌÀ¸¹Ç·Î ¹é¼ºµé°ú ³ª¶óµé°ú ¾ð¾î°¡ ´Ù¸¥ ¸ðµç »ç¶÷µéÀÌ ±×ÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ¶³¸ç
         µÎ·Á¿öÇÏ¿´À¸¸ç ±×´Â ÀÓÀÇ·Î Á×À̸ç ÀÓÀÇ·Î »ì¸®¸ç ÀÓÀÇ·Î ³ôÀ̸ç ÀÓÀÇ·Î ³·Ãß¾ú´õ´Ï
         Because of the high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of every language
         dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted
         to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble,
         he humbled.

    20. ±×°¡ ¸¶À½ÀÌ ³ô¾ÆÁö¸ç ¶æÀÌ ¿Ï¾ÇÇÏ¿© ±³¸¸À» ÇàÇϹǷΠ±×ÀÇ ¿ÕÀ§°¡ ÆóÇÑ ¹Ù µÇ¸ç ±×ÀÇ ¿µ±¤À» »©¾Ñ±â°í
         But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his
         royal throne and stripped of his glory.

         ±×ÀÇ ¸öÀÌ ÇÏ´Ã À̽½¿¡ Á¥¾úÀ¸¸ç Áö±ØÈ÷ ³ôÀ¸½Å Çϳª´ÔÀÌ »ç¶÷ ³ª¶ó¸¦ ´Ù½º¸®½Ã¸ç ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¶æ´ë·Î
         ´©±¸µçÁö ±× ÀÚ¸®¿¡ ¼¼¿ì½Ã´Â ÁÙÀ» ¾Ë±â¿¡ À̸£·¶³ªÀÌ´Ù
         He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and
         ate grass like cattle; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that
         the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes.

    22. º§»ç»ìÀÌ¿© ¿ÕÀº ±×ÀÇ ¾ÆµéÀÌ µÇ¾î¼­ ÀÌ°ÍÀ» ´Ù ¾Ë°íµµ ¾ÆÁ÷µµ ¸¶À½À» ³·ÃßÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ°í
         ¡°But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.

         ÈıõéÀÌ ´Ù ±×°ÍÀ¸·Î ¼úÀ» ¸¶½Ã°í ¿ÕÀÌ ¶Ç º¸Áöµµ µèÁöµµ ¾ËÁöµµ ¸øÇÏ´Â ±Ý, Àº, ±¸¸®, ¼è¿Í ³ª¹«,
         µ¹·Î ¸¸µç ½Å»óµéÀ» Âù¾çÇÏ°í µµ¸®¾î ¿ÕÀÇ È£ÈíÀ» ÁÖÀåÇÏ½Ã°í ¿ÕÀÇ ¸ðµç ±æÀ» ÀÛÁ¤ÇϽôÂ
         Çϳª´Ô²²´Â ¿µ±¤À» µ¹¸®Áö ¾Æ´ÏÇÑÁö¶ó
         Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple
         brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them.
         You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear
         or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.

    24. ÀÌ·¯¹Ç·Î ±×ÀÇ ¾Õ¿¡¼­ ÀÌ ¼Õ°¡¶ôÀÌ ³ª¿Í¼­ ÀÌ ±ÛÀ» ±â·ÏÇÏ¿´³ªÀÌ´Ù
         Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.

    25. ±â·ÏµÈ ±ÛÀÚ´Â ÀÌ°ÍÀÌ´Ï °ð ¸Þ³× µ¥°Ö ¿ì¹Ù¸£½ÅÀ̶ó
         ¡°This is the inscription that was written : MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.

    26. ±× ±ÛÀ» Çؼ®ÇÏ°Ç´ë ¸Þ³×´Â Çϳª´ÔÀÌ ÀÌ¹Ì ¿ÕÀÇ ³ª¶óÀÇ ½Ã´ë¸¦ ¼¼¾î¼­ ±×°ÍÀ» ³¡³ª°Ô Çϼ̴٠ÇÔÀÌ¿ä
         ¡°This is what these words mean : Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign
         and brought it to an end.

    27. µ¥°ÖÀº ¿ÕÀ» Àú¿ï¿¡ ´Þ¾Æ º¸´Ï ºÎÁ·ÇÔÀÌ º¸¿´´Ù ÇÔÀÌ¿ä
         Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

    28. º£·¹½º´Â ¿ÕÀÇ ³ª¶ó°¡ ³ª´µ¾î¼­ ¸Þ´ë¿Í ¹Ù»ç »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ÁØ ¹Ù µÇ¾ú´Ù ÇÔÀÌ´ÏÀÌ´Ù ÇÏ´Ï
         Peres : Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."

         Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was clothed in purple, a gold chain was placed around
         his  neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.

         That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain,

         and Darius the Mede took over the kingdom, at the age of sixty-two.
