1. À̰͵µ ¼Ö·Î¸óÀÇ Àá¾ðÀÌ¿ä À¯´Ù ¿Õ È÷½º±â¾ßÀÇ ½ÅÇϵéÀÌ ÆíÁýÇÑ °ÍÀ̴϶ó
These are more proverbs of Solomon, copied by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah :
2. ÀÏÀ» ¼û±â´Â °ÍÀº Çϳª´ÔÀÇ ¿µÈ¿ä ÀÏÀ» »ìÇÇ´Â °ÍÀº ¿ÕÀÇ ¿µÈ´Ï¶ó
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.
3. ÇÏ´ÃÀÇ ³ôÀ½°ú ¶¥ÀÇ ±íÀ½ °°ÀÌ ¿ÕÀÇ ¸¶À½Àº Çì¾Æ¸± ¼ö ¾ø´À´Ï¶ó
As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.
4. Àº¿¡¼ Â±â¸¦ Á¦Ç϶ó ±×¸®Çϸé Àå»öÀÇ ¾µ ¸¸ÇÑ ±×¸©ÀÌ ³ª¿Ã °ÍÀÌ¿ä
Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith;
5. ¿Õ ¾Õ¿¡¼ ¾ÇÇÑ ÀÚ¸¦ Á¦Ç϶ó ±×¸®ÇÏ¸é ±×ÀÇ ¿ÕÀ§°¡ ÀÇ·Î ¸»¹Ì¾Ï¾Æ °ß°íÈ÷ ¼¸®¶ó
remove the wicked from the king¡¯s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.
6. ¿Õ ¾Õ¿¡¼ ½º½º·Î ³ôÀº üÇÏÁö ¸»¸ç ´ëÀεéÀÇ ÀÚ¸®¿¡ ¼Áö ¸»¶ó
Do not exalt yourself in the king¡¯s presence, and do not claim a place among great men;
7. ÀÌ´Â »ç¶÷ÀÌ ³×°Ô À̸®·Î ¿Ã¶ó¿À¶ó°í ¸»ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ ³× ´«¿¡ º¸ÀÌ´Â ±ÍÀÎ ¾Õ¿¡¼
Àú¸®·Î ³»·Á°¡¶ó°í ¸»ÇÏ´Â °Íº¸´Ù ³ªÀ½À̴϶ó
it is better for him to say to you, ¡°Come up here,¡± than for him to humiliate
you before a nobleman. What you have seen with your eyes.
8. ³Ê´Â ¼µÑ·¯ ³ª°¡¼ ´ÙÅõÁö ¸»¶ó ¸¶Ä§³» ³×°¡ ÀÌ¿ô¿¡°Ô¼ ¿åÀ» º¸°Ô µÉ ¶§¿¡
³×°¡ ¾îÂîÇÒ ÁÙÀ» ¾ËÁö ¸øÇÒ±î µÎ·Á¿ì´Ï¶ó
do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?
9. ³Ê´Â ÀÌ¿ô°ú ´ÙÅõ°Åµç º¯·Ð¸¸ ÇÏ°í ³²ÀÇ Àº¹ÐÇÑ ÀÏÀº ´©¼³ÇÏÁö ¸»¶ó
If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man¡¯s confidence,
10. µè´Â ÀÚ°¡ ³Ê¸¦ ²Ù¢À» ÅÍÀÌ¿ä ¶Ç ³×°Ô ´ëÇÑ ¾ÇÆòÀÌ ³×°Ô¼ ¶°³ªÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÒ±î µÎ·Á¿ì´Ï¶ó
or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation.
11. °æ¿ì¿¡ ÇÕ´çÇÑ ¸»Àº ¾Æ·Î»õ±ä Àº Àï¹Ý¿¡ ±Ý »ç°ú´Ï¶ó
A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12. ½½±â·Î¿î ÀÚÀÇ Ã¥¸ÁÀº ûÁ¾ÇÏ´Â ±Í¿¡ ±Ý °í¸®¿Í Á¤±Ý Àå½ÄÀ̴϶ó
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man¡¯s rebuke to a listening ear.
13. Ã漺µÈ »çÀÚ´Â ±×¸¦ º¸³½ ÀÌ¿¡°Ô ¸¶Ä¡ Ãß¼öÇÏ´Â ³¯¿¡ ¾óÀ½ ³Ã¼ö °°¾Æ¼ ´ÉÈ÷
±× ÁÖÀÎÀÇ ¸¶À½À» ½Ã¿øÇÏ°Ô ÇÏ´À´Ï¶ó
Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those
who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters.
14. ¼±¹°ÇÑ´Ù°í °ÅÁþ ÀÚ¶ûÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â ºñ ¾ø´Â ±¸¸§°ú ¹Ù¶÷ °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give.
15. ¿À·¡ ÂüÀ¸¸é °ü¿øµµ ¼³µæÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖ³ª´Ï ºÎµå·¯¿î Çô´Â »À¸¦ ²ª´À´Ï¶ó
Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.
16. ³Ê´Â ²ÜÀ» º¸°Åµç Á·Çϸ®¸¸Å ¸ÔÀ¸¶ó °ú½ÄÇÔÀ¸·Î ÅäÇÒ±î µÎ·Á¿ì´Ï¶ó
If you find honey, eat just enouth—too much of it, and you will vomit.
17. ³Ê´Â ÀÌ¿ôÁý¿¡ ÀÚÁÖ ´Ù´ÏÁö ¸»¶ó ±×°¡ ³Ê¸¦ ½È¾îÇÏ¸ç ¹Ì¿öÇÒ±î µÎ·Á¿ì´Ï¶ó
Seldom set foot in your neighbor¡¯s house—too much of you, and he will hate you.
18. ÀÚ±âÀÇ ÀÌ¿ôÀ» Ãļ °ÅÁþ Áõ°ÅÇÏ´Â »ç¶÷Àº ¹æ¸ÁÀÌ¿ä Ä®ÀÌ¿ä »ÏÁ·ÇÑ È»ìÀ̴϶ó
Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor.
19. ȯ³ ³¯¿¡ Áø½ÇÇÏÁö ¸øÇÑ ÀÚ¸¦ ÀÇ·ÚÇÏ´Â °ÍÀº ºÎ·¯Áø ÀÌ¿Í À§°ñµÈ ¹ß °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in times of trouble.
20. ¸¶À½ÀÌ »óÇÑ ÀÚ¿¡°Ô ³ë·¡ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀº Ãß¿î ³¯¿¡ ¿ÊÀ» ¹þÀ½ °°°í ¼Ò´Ù À§¿¡ ½ÄÃʸ¦ ºÎÀ½ °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on soda,
is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
21. ³× ¿ø¼ö°¡ ¹è°íÆÄÇϰŵç À½½ÄÀ» ¸ÔÀÌ°í ¸ñ¸»¶óÇÏ°Åµç ¹°À» ¸¶½Ã°Ô Ç϶ó
If you enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
22. ±×¸® ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀº ÇÉ ½¡À» ±×ÀÇ ¸Ó¸®¿¡ ³õ´Â °Í°ú ÀϹÝÀÌ¿ä ¿©È£¿Í²²¼ ³×°Ô °±¾Æ Áֽø®¶ó
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.
23. ºÏdzÀÌ ºñ¸¦ ÀÏÀ¸Å´ °°ÀÌ Âü¼ÒÇÏ´Â Çô´Â »ç¶÷ÀÇ ¾ó±¼¿¡ ºÐÀ» ÀÏÀ¸Å°´À´Ï¶ó
As a north wind brings rain, so a sly tongue brings angry looks.
24. ´ÙÅõ´Â ¿©Àΰú ÇÔ²² Å« Áý¿¡¼ »ç´Â °Íº¸´Ù ¿ò¸·¿¡¼ È¥ÀÚ »ç´Â °ÍÀÌ ³ªÀ¸´Ï¶ó
Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
25. ¸Õ ¶¥¿¡¼ ¿À´Â ÁÁÀº ±âº°Àº ¸ñ¸¶¸¥ »ç¶÷¿¡°Ô ³Ã¼ö¿Í °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distand land.
26. ÀÇÀÎÀÌ ¾ÇÀÎ ¾Õ¿¡ ±¼º¹ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀº ¿ì¹°ÀÌ Èå·ÁÁü°ú »ùÀÌ ´õ·¯¿öÁü°ú °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked.
27. ²ÜÀ» ¸¹ÀÌ ¸Ô´Â °ÍÀÌ ÁÁÁö ¸øÇÏ°í ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¿µ¿¹¸¦ ±¸ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀÌ ÇêµÇ´Ï¶ó
It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to seek one¡¯s own honor.
28. ÀÚ±âÀÇ ¸¶À½À» Á¦¾îÇÏÁö ¾Æ´ÏÇÏ´Â ÀÚ´Â ¼ºÀ¾ÀÌ ¹«³ÊÁö°í ¼ºº®ÀÌ ¾ø´Â °Í°ú °°À¸´Ï¶ó
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.
